    Music You Love

The name of the band is Meat Puppets - a favorite of mine. In Nirvana's famous appearance on MTV Unplugged, that's the Kirkwood brothers from the Meat Puppets playing with them . There's a great version of Lake of Fire.

Trying to lose 80lbs this year.

I found it very helpful to weigh myself first thing in the morning. It helped me focus on what did I consume in the last 24 hours and what effect did it have on my weight. At first I recorded the daily weights on a calendar, which helped me develop my awareness.

    Alexa, Am I Being Hacked?

I have a pile of papers, and am in need of a paperweight. If we smash the thing with a hammer so we can be sure it can't spy on us, it could work. However, the postage to send it to me, particularly considering there are lots of rocks in the back yard, would be prohibitive. So, upon careful...

    Logic or Intuition?

I've learned a lot of things by building a decision tree in my head. Every time I learn something new, the decision tree gets updated. After years of practice, I can do it fast enough that it seems like intuition, even though in reality I'm doing the aspie thing of details, details, details.

I'm going to be the guy handing out candy.

    Considering investing in stocks

I'll second that - I was about to post something similar. If you have the impression you can trade from your PC and get rich ... you can't. You can't beat the guys on Wall Street on a regular basis. Much better for a beginner is to put your money in a fund that is managed by one of those guys on...

    Poetry (About Animals)

I believe it was Nash who wrote what is supposed to be the shortest poem ever: Fleas Adam Had'em

question for those with trouble with being distracted

Pats - Talking about your daughter doing story time brought back some great memories. Our daughter was in Kindergarten when we read her the Lord of the Rings trilogy for story time - all 3 books, a chapter at a time - it took 5 months. She really enjoyed it, although at that age she couldn't...

    Humor

A high school classmate of mine became a movie star (true story). She's been in Hollywood so long she's probably a lot younger now, but at the time we were the same age. Wait ... was that a joke?

Loved that machine - really liked the "downstairs" play.

    What's your slightly impressive skill/talent/ability?

I learned the 50 US states in alphabetical order in 1964. That seemed like a useful thing to remember, so I would run through the list in my head every few months. Now it's automatic. Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, ...

Hi, I'm new, and unsure of whether I have ASD

Welcome! I think of autism as a list of things you could be very good at or very bad at, depending on how your brain is wired. If you check enough boxes, you're officially On The Spectrum. Some people check some of the boxes, but not enough to officially be labeled OTS. To me, whether or not...
