    Help/Support for Insomnia

Hi, all. A quick update here. I'm happy to say that a year after I posted this thread topic, I can say that I am now insomnia free! Thank God. Of course I still have sleepless nights, but these do not wreak havoc on my emotional and psychological state anymore. The CBTi really worked, but so...

    new here, hello

You are not alone at all in this! I wish I'd been given this kind of information when I was 25, and I wish this forum had been around then. That was a long time ago. Anyhow, welcome to the forum. What questionnaires did you take, if you don't mind my asking? Just curious... I am formally...

Is talking to yourself considered a form of stimming?

This is a really good thread topic. I've wondered this myself for awhile. I tend to agree with most of the others here that this probably is a form of verbal stimming.

    Help/Support for Insomnia

I understand exactly how this feels. That has been my issue for about 5 years. How do you feel (emotionally) when you wake up in the middle of the night and can't sleep? Do you stress over it? Do you think about sleep and being"sleep deprived" during the day? And do you feel anxiety at night...

Researcher's blog - The Autism Anthropologist

I'm not familiar with this writer, but I am definitely going to check him out. Thank you for sharing. I am a doctoral researcher in linguistics (and some philology) intersected with autism, and I am just now starting to see the importance of "anthropolinguistics" in my own work. Are you also...

Hi, OkRad. Thanks for the explanation about the indoor camping and resetting the circadian rhythm that you wrote on the forum. I'm intrigued by the idea and wanted to ask you some more questions, but I cannot remember how to send a private message using this forum. Could you send me a private...

    Help/Support for Insomnia

I've actually heard this. Spending an extended amount of time outside in nature would likely make a big difference. Pardon my ignorance, but what is indoor camping?

    Help/Support for Insomnia

Good for you. I think that is a really healthy way of dealing with wakefulness in the middle of night or early morning. I also wake up before I would like, and I was blaming this on "sleep maintenance insomnia" and letting it control my life. But I've started doing exactly what you're doing now...

    Help/Support for Insomnia

Yikes. Meds don't really address the problem that perpetuates the insomnia though. That was why I wanted to share the link. I can't recommend the paid course (as I haven't tried it), but I can definitely recommend the free 2-week course and the podcast. These have been big game changers for me...

    Help/Support for Insomnia

Yeah, I actually love this idea and will probably give it a try. I used to fantasise about learning a language at night, so maybe an audiobook/language course may be good:)

    Help/Support for Insomnia

I used CBD oil years ago. I'm not sure whether it helped or not. But the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is working. I am not suffering at the moment. That's not to say I don't have some rough nights/days, but I am no longer suffering and would probably not need to identify as an "insomniac"...

    Help/Support for Insomnia

Hello everyone. I am certain I am not the only person on this forum who suffers from a chronic sleep disorder/sleep anxiety. I only just started treatment (CBTi) after the first of this year, and I've got a long way to go before I will feel like I am over the worst of it. For anyone struggling...

Where can I get sample questions of autism evaluations?

I completely agree. This is totally ridiculous. But the AQ was created by Simon Baron-Cohen, who also developed the theory of autism and the male brain. He focused almost exclusively on males with seemingly exceptional mathematical skills. Very shortsighted indeed.

Where can I get sample questions of autism evaluations?

Hi all I was diagnosed with autism in May 2018 (in my 30's), and included in the eval were these three testing instruments : MMPI-2 (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory 2nd ed) SRS-2 (Social Responsiveness Scale 2nd ed) AQ (Autism Spectrum Quotient) Does anyone by chance know how I...

    Am I ugly? Or average?

If you are, take it into consideration, but don't let it stop you from sharing your perspective. The current culture I live in (I'm not sure where you live) is not that into listening to men at the moment. But there are women who would like to hear/read what you have to say, and I'm sure I can't...
