This is a non sequitur, but when I think about all the historical figures who are oddballs in one sense or another, I remember this quote: "Reasonable people adapt themselves to their environment. Unreasonable people attempt to adapt their environment to themselves. Therefore, all progress is...

Moses Proposes Moses proposes his own diagnosis But Moses proposes erroneously, For Moses' diagnosis is one of psychosis, But Moses is actually just ASD. I think I like this version better. Both are contrafacta of the original Moses Supposes.

    Share good puns and jokes.

A Zen Buddhist walks up to a hot dog vendor and says, "Make me one with everything." He gets his hot dog and gives the vendor $10, then asks for change. The vendor says, "Change must come from within."

    Hilariously silly internet slop

At first I wanted to ask if there was just one, since you wrote "illuminate" instead of "illuminati". Then I thought, what if there was just one person in the illuminati? You couldn't get an organization more secret than that! :p

    Hilariously silly internet slop

Sounds a lot like other urban legends - saying they're in some specific town lends them credibility. But if you actually know the area, it all falls apart. Here's another example: Mel's Hole. It's an urban legend about a supposedly bottomless pit. The Wikipedia page has a little information...

Moses Opposes Moses opposes his closest neurosis, But Moses opposes erroneously, For Moses’ neurosis is closer to Moses Than Moses without his neurosis would be.

    Not always noticeable features,

You're absolutely right. I looooove poetry. I like the fun, absurd poetry, not the serious high-literature poetry. I like Dorothy Parker, Ogden Nash, Gelett Burgess, and the like. I have dozens of poems memorized and have written quite a few myself. Any time I find a poem I like, I memorize it...

    Not always noticeable features,

I get stuck on rhyming words or near homophones. I heard the word "Marshallese" and for a while I had "Mars shall ease Marshallese" running through my head. It seems like any time I hear one word, my brains says, "Oh! That rhymes with..."

Don't Be Shy To Introduce Yourself

Welcome, @RealisticRobin. There are a lot of us here that realized we're autistic late in life. We grew up in a time when there was so much less awareness of autism and so much less tolerance for differences. When I was diagnosed at age 47, I looked online that day and found this forum. This...

So I've started a major project

When fractint first came out, I used to spend hours and hours generating images and staring at them. I also got to attend a guest lecture by Dr. Mandelbrot. That was fun.

What portrayals of autism in the media AREN'T annoying?

I started this post because I am watching Alphas right now. There is an autistic character, Gary, that started out just plain annoying. In the show, he has the ability to see and understand electronic communication in the air around him. They use him mostly for the quick electronic surveillance...

So I've started a major project

I set up a website to share my math projects, but I took the lazy way out - I used Wix. It's not as flexible as setting up a website from scratch, but for me it works because I can focus on writing up my recreational math articles and I don't have to learn HTML.

Those look mesmerizing. I could stare at animations like that for hours. I can't wait to see your site!

What portrayals of autism in the media AREN'T annoying?

I think you're right. I think everything needs to be good for a good character. If the actor's performance is bad, the character will be shallow and wooden. If the writing and story is shallow, there will be no way for the actor to put anything into it. And sometimes I think that maybe there...

What portrayals of autism in the media AREN'T annoying?

I forgot about Matthew from The Chosen. That is a very good portrayal of autism that is not annoying!
