Has anyone on the spectrum self taught themselves to play instruments?

I was taught to play clarinet and to read, I then tried my hand at many different instruments with little to no instruction. Mostly I made irritating noises, but could reasonably claim to have taught myself most of the other reed instruments I could get at school - oboe, bassoon, tenor and...

NASA Rover "Perserverance" Lands On Mars

There have been more unsuccessful attempted landings on Mars than successful landings. It is still very challenging and exciting for all concerned when something works. You can see the reactions from the JPL people when even a stage separates successfully - there's a whole lot that can go wrong.

Weirdness in Time Zone setting options

I think it actually starts below Mexico, but I'm not absolutely sure. And good for you Saskatchewan, Horgan's been talking about BC stopping the daylight savings time nonsense but we still changed in the fall. Saskatchewan might still be in the same time zone with somewhere in Central America...

    "Teenagers feel they are invulnarable"

Not yet, we haven't. And I'm guessing that a tendency to think before you leap is a sign of maturity, not too many people get to be old without learning that one.

Help! my attention span is getting awful

I guess some would say that meditation might help with concentration. Not so many are into meditation. Maybe a hobby that would require concentration but that you would enjoy, a positive context for concentration sort of thing. Building models maybe? I'd suggest playing pool, but that could be...

What food or sauces do you really hate, but many love?

I might guess that some who do things that are good for them exaggerate a bit, like saying that they run six miles a day when really they run three, some days. I think that pretending to like brussels sprouts is the 'oh look at me I eat my vegetables aren't I great' equivalent of that. Nobody...

I think the Death Star orbiting Saturn is worthy of mention. Mimas

How does one find movie watching buds?

Flowers that don't flower are buds. Sometimes you want to harvest the buds and grow a plant and prevent it from being pollinated so you get nice big unflowered buds. I didn't really understand the title at first. When your friends didn't want to drink and watch movies I thought they must want...

what is your favourite natural satellite (moon)?

Just found out today about Pluto and Charon being both tidally locked to the other, and a volcano(ish thing?) on Pluto actually depositing stuff on Charon, all in one particular spot. Not sure I really have a favourite in this solar system, but having just found that out it seems very cool to me...

Who else thinks that Star Wars never that good?

Actually not typical. A black woman on the bridge was real progress. Some of those barbie dolls were officers who ordered men around. American cooperating with Russian and Japanese. It's good that you see what is wrong, but you ought to know that this show was exposing what was wrong once upon a...

Who else thinks that Star Wars never that good?

I do get that Star Trek has depth that Star Wars never tried to have on more than one level. I don't see how this is relevant to the original post. The first criticism (as opposed to general complaint) about the movie is the special effects, which are, as you say, "...the spaceships and other...

    New here and self diagnosed

You're not insane, horrible or alone. From what you wrote you may or may not be on the spectrum, but you don't need to be to be here. There are some tests here which can give an indication without spending so very much time - Aspie tests Whether you are a fellow aspie or not I'd guess you have...

Who else thinks that Star Wars never that good?

I was eight years old when my mum took me and a few friends to see it in the theatre. It was just the greatest at the time, and I suppose I was born at exactly the right time to think so. It continues to be less impressive as I get older, but then so do many other things. I think it is aimed at...
