List just one thing you did today

Two old friends and I dropped of multiple boxes of donated shelf-stable food and a couple of sleeping bags to a local homeless community shelter, then went to lunch at a nice restaurant and ate some delicious food and had a glass of wine. On reflection, the difference between us stuffing...

How to get over a lack of social life when trying to date?

@Brian39WV - Everyone is different but all friendships require reciprocity and all successful romantic relationships require friendship. You can just hire someone to provide you with "romance" if you cannot/will not build a friendship first to achieve a true romantic relationship. Good luck!

How to better sell my lifestyle when it comes to modern dating standards?

The fact that a man lives with his parents would not be an automatic reason for me to reject him for a date. I'd want to know the circumstances before I judged. I'd actually be more interested in a guy who lives with his parents to help them in their old age than a guy who selfishly ignores...

An important lesson for the intrepid explorer.

I've had that happen to me, too, skiing in Utah and Idaho.

It's recommended here, too, especially for cross country wilderness snow skiers. But people ignore the advice all the time, to their detriment. Darwin's law strikes again.

Is it only Aspies who remember birthdays?

I just want to point out that many NTs, including myself, do not have Facebook accounts and we certainly remember significant birthdays. We probably don't remember birthdates for people who are not significant to our lives. I think it is the same for the ND population.

An important lesson for the intrepid explorer.

A solo hiker in Arches National Park in Utah who got stuck in quicksand in a narrow canyon was rescued a few days ago by using his Garmin satellite messenger to request help. He had no cell phone signal where he was located. The Garmin GPS automatically includes the coordinates for its...

An important lesson for the intrepid explorer.

Many people taking selfies die in the US every year, doing some dumb thing or the other like falling off the Grand Canyon cliffs, just to get a narcissistic picture of themselves.

She must have suffered a horrible, lonely death.

I'd better stick with my portable sun dial, Boy Scout compass and moss on the north side of trees. ;)

Tony, are your parents happy that you still live with them? Maybe it's time for you to have a serious conversation with them about your moving to an independent living facility.

An important lesson for the intrepid explorer.

She must have been very disoriented to lose or abandon her phone. She made numerous mistakes - leaving the marked trail, hiking alone, starting too late in the day to reach her destination and return before dark, not taking a hard copy map with her, and perhaps not taking adequate clothing...

List just one thing you did today

The two old cats are being silly today. It's very windy and cold here and getting colder tonight. I watched them racing around the yard in the cold wind, fake-fighting with each other, and then let them back in the house where it is warm. Both of them are now sleeping at my feet.

What kind of eater are you?

I'll eat just about anything. Or at least try it to see if I like it. The one food that I have never liked is sweet potatoes. I hated them as a child but force myself to eat them now because I know they're "good" for me. My older brother told me that they were earwax when I was little and...
