My first memory was floating in the womb. Don't remember birth. At 2 years old, I was mad at Santa Clause because he forced a candy cane on me when I had said no. He gave it to my mom who gave it to me when we got home. I waited till I was alone in the kitchen and threw the candy cane in the garbage. Then I felt guilty the rest of the day for wasting food.
Didn't know I was an Aspie till 64 years old. That didn't stop all the kids from bullying and ridiculing me as a "spaz", "dork", or "retard" for being clumsy at sports. (Being way ahead in science didn't seem to hold much weight with the bullies.) Learned enough to fake being normal after college as long as I didn't socialize any more than absolutely necessary. Was an Air Force Physicist from 1980-86. After Air Force was a Laser Technician/Electronic Technician for 32 years. Retired in 2022. Was married for 24 years till my wife passed in 2022. Learned I was ASD1 in early 2023. Was told it would have been Asperger's years ago. I prefer more specificity, hence I say Asperger's Syndrome even though it's not official anymore.
