Practical self-sufficiency: how to put food on the table when you don't have a job

I also do this. Often a holiday weekend will be followed by a sale on grill cuts that were over stocked. The excess turkey blow out after Thanksgiving will sometimes get birds down near half a dollar a pound. Even a small chest type freezer is one of the best investments you can make. It...

    Should I move?

I'm with you on this. It mainly depends on the job. I've had low/no skill jobs where being able to start in the next five minutes was what landed the position. Other times they were hiring a special skill rather than a person and willing to make more allowances.

    Already it begins...

Glad to hear it! I've been in this situation several times and for me it was always a "no win". If I let them change the agreed terms on the fly, even for very good reasons, it soon degenerated into being unable to depend on anything they said. Definitely not the situation you want when your...

    Feeling of belonging after diagnosis?

I still don't feel like I'm part of any group, not antisocial or even unsocial, is asocial a word? It is some relief to discover I'm not the only member of a race of aliens. Still, rather than see it as being a member of some alien race, to me it feels more like discovering a group of other...

Has anyone else here tried currency trading?

You make that sound like a bad thing. Perhaps it is if you think trading is an investment. It's not, or at least I don't see it that way. That's one of the reasons I launched this thread here rather than some FX forum. I'm discovering that mind set and perceptions are a *huge* part of...

Has anyone else here tried currency trading?

I wish I could offer meaningful advice. At this stage of the game I'm fully occupied confusing myself. Confusing other people is a little beyond my reach. :-)

Has anyone else here tried currency trading?

Oh brother! I have sooo been there. :-) 99% of the books on the subject are packed with some whiz bang strategy for determining what is a good price to buy and sell. The simple truth is almost any strategy will work well enough to sell a boat load of books. What you need to keep in mind is...

Has anyone else here tried currency trading?

Actually I'd describe you as the victim of a classic marketing sucker punch. You were never exposed to the job, just sold a "once in a lifetime" shot at profiting from a "unique" opportunity with an oddball currency. Right now I trade the eur/usd pair. I use my supply of dollars to buy...

Has anyone else here tried currency trading?

A couple decades ago, when online currency trading became possible I checked it out. At the time I decided that if I needed to divest myself of my few remaining assets, it might be a little quicker than using $100 bills for toilet paper but not as much fun. Back in May I did a little more...

Anyone else feel like they suck at job interviews because of AS?

The biggest problems I have with job interviews are first that the interview has little if anything to do with ability to actually do the job. That could be due to the fact that I don't apply for sales jobs and interviews are all about sales skills. The other problem is that the final hiring...

    Hi All

Just joined. I haven't been formally diagnosed AS but have checked what's online. My first impression of the diagnostic guides was, "how long have these people been following me around?" :-) I was in my mid fifties before I even heard of AS or HFA. While it's nice to have some understanding...
