    More sensitive to noise

I've even tried sitting with a thick wooly hat on, pulled down to cover my ears to try and keep out some of the noise. It actually works quite well and is reasonably effective, however a little too warm in the summer months.

    More sensitive to noise

I've Yes, I'm considering investing in a subtle pair of ear defenders. I've thought about listening to my iPod quietly during these "trigger times" but I worry that people might find it ignorant.

    More sensitive to noise

I'm a 47 year old Aspie Trucker, husband and father. Just lately I'm noticing that I have become alot more sensitive to noise. The worst one for me is other people eating. I seem to be hypersensitive to the sound of people chewing food and drinking. It absolutely drives me mad to the point I...

    Meltdowns ?

Had a day from Hell !!!! Went shopping this afternoon to Morrisons Supermarket, did the shopping and walking back to the car through the car park, some daft old cow wasn't watching where she was driving and drove right into my girlfriend and knocked her over. It was a relatively low speed...

    Having ASD and Work

I can't do Smalltalk, chit chat, banter and the general hogwash like the other drivers so I must come across as arrogant, weird or odd to the others. I just don't understand them and would have nothing to add, I just don't get them and they don't get me, so I just do my own thing and get on with...

    Having ASD and Work

Most certainly! Just the thought of anybody changing my routine makes me physically a wreck. I have often lay awake at night worried about there being a change to my regular run . I have considered telling my bosses about my Aspergers diagnosis but I worry what the reaction would be. I have an...

    "Sensory friendly t-shirt"

I HATE tags and labels in any of my clothes. First thing I have to do is cut them out. I can't bear the feeling

    Having ASD and Work

Yes I find work extremely difficult. I'm a HGV Truck Driver in the UK. For me it's ideal as I'm sat on my own all day in my truck, Don't have to bother talking to irritating people, can listen to whatever I want to on the stereo (usually talk radio as music irritates me). The problem I have is...

Regression with age (Does autism get worse?)

I seem to be finding life in general more irritating, difficult to cope with and I get annoyed at things I didn't used to. Without wishing to sound too aloof, I just find humans unbearable and more and more irritating every day. I can't stand having to deal with or worse still, speak to people...

A New Puppy in the house

Absolutely! The disruption, the mess, the amount of looking after and time needed. And where the Hell is the fun and enjoyment in walking in the rain with a bag of dog ----?

Muslim parents threaten to keep kids off school in protests against ‘gay relationship lessons’...

It's different when their grooming gangs are sexualising young British girls! Knowledge is power. A little knowledge about modern day society isn't going to turn a child gay. I learned woodwork in school but I didn't become a carpenter. Those who are always complaining about lack of tolerance...

If they don't like it then they know where the airport is don't they! Funny they're the first to cry the intolerance card when it suits them.

A New Puppy in the house

We have just got the most beautiful little 12 week old tiny Yorkshire Terrier puppy. We got it mainly as a calming influence for our 10 year old daughter who has Autism and suffers from anxiety and panic attacks. I myself have Aspergers and although the dog is lovely and sweet and is really...
