How many people on the spectrum drive, and when did you get your license?

Not totally sure whether I'm on the spectrum, but I got my learner's permit at 16 and license at 17. I did fail the test for my license the first time, but passed on the second try. For those first few years of having my license though, I didn't drive much. Pretty much just to school and dance...

Does anyone wear the same clothes over and over?

Yes. But for me, it's more about comfort. I'm so picky about how my clothes (well, mostly pants and especially denim) feel, and I usually end up wearing the same two pairs of jeans/pants/shorts and having to wash them all the time. I always try to find pairs that fit me properly and feel...

What's the earliest sign you showed of autism?

I'm not sure if I'm on the spectrum or not, but I'd say the earliest possible sign was the meltdowns I had when I was a toddler. I'd even hurt myself (bang my head into a hard surface, or scratch myself till I was bleeding). My mom thought I just had a "temper", and according to her, I didn't...

    Terrible at math average grades.

I think being a math genius is just a stereotype about people with Asperger's. Not everyone who has it is going to be good at the same things. I also generally struggled with math when I was in school. But I was quite advanced in reading and writing.

What were your favourite countries when you were eight?

I still have never visited another country. But I do remember having a globe and sometimes I'd spin it around just to see what random country my finger would end up on. The only time I remember really liking a particular country was when I loved the "Madeline" books and cartoons. That made me...

    physical clumsiness?

I can relate. I've struggled with motor skills (particularly fine) all my life. My gross motor skills aren't as bad and I'm actually decent at dancing, but yeah...hand-eye coordination is definitely not my strong suit. I remember struggling to learn to tie my shoes as a kid. And feeling like an...

    What have you studied?

I have an associate's degree in assistance dog education. I attended a specialized school for 9 months (also spent the previous year at a community college getting general Ed requirements) and learned to train service dogs to assist people with disabilities. It was a lot of fun, and I fondly...

Hi, I'm new, and unsure of whether I have ASD

Hi! I'm 27 (female), and wondering if I could be on the spectrum. I thought about all of my traits that do seem like I might be autistic, and also wrote out the things that make it seem a little less likely to try to organize my thoughts. I know no one can diagnose me here. I'm just wondering...
