how do you feel about winter/colder months?

Hi @Kayla55 thanks for the long thorough response. Could you maybe give a bit more context to these last 2 questions (I am bit lost - working through a Autistic burnout so I am sometimes still missing the obvious).

how do you feel about winter/colder months?

Does anyone else (with ASD or something else) find it harder/more tedious (in terms of processing the changes (darker mornings, temperature drop, more layering of clothing + bedding, etc)) during the lead up (Autumn) to full blown Winter? I am realising that I do (for the South African Autumn +...

    Thoughts on sensory sensitive earplugs?

Very fair consideration - the earplugs (I was mentioned) do have a version that allows you still hear conversations (while tuning out what you don't want to hear). Each to their own but thank you for the interesting input (as always)!

    Thoughts on sensory sensitive earplugs?

Hey everyone, Not sure if there is another/previous thread on this - what does everyone think? This would be to be sensory friendly (my work (I am leaving) has had various types of building/construction going (for the last few months)) & that + the work just leaves me completely drained on the...

How do you deal with a haircut?

As a 29 year old (ASD adult), I have not liked haircuts for the longest time - makes me feel uncomfortable & quite alert (don't feel calm).

    More "autistic" when tired?

I think I relate to this (working through a Autistic burnout so not fully sure) - day to day things require more energy + focus (not sure if this is spoons) & I tend to go more quiet (refresh at home and in my space). I generally start the morning with lower energy & do fine during the night...

What are your stims/what do you do as stimming?

Thinking a bit more - I think another two that I have are: pulling up socks (not ankle socks obviously) + pulling down/tucking in pants legs afterwards & adjusting the bracelet/bangle on my right arm.

What are your stims/what do you do as stimming?

A lot more different types of stimming than I would have thought of.

What are your stims/what do you do as stimming?

I do definitely talk to myself more when stressed/anxious/burning out - I do some of the others too. Thought it was just fidgeting however.

Thoughts on a (recently previous) relationship between a late diagnosis Autistic guy & a late diagnosis ADHD girl

Fair enough :P Thanks for the advice & will do so (when I have figured out + unpacked a bunch of stuff).

I'm feeling conflicted and unhappy with my family situation. May I have some validation and/or advice? (trigger warning, also, I think)

Sorry to hear it was so much & that your immediate family are spreading dissidence. Good job for finding a better job + putting yourself first. I am currently trying to do the same - my job as a Accounting Generalist (at a ERP software company is not for me (too chaotic of a work style) & I...

What are your stims/what do you do as stimming?

Hmm, that for the interesting insights (as always) - does mumbling/talking to yourself count?

Thoughts on a (recently previous) relationship between a late diagnosis Autistic guy & a late diagnosis ADHD girl

Oh, okay - I get that & hope it goes well. If I can ask (understand if you are not comfortable answering) - how old are you? I am only 29 (turning 30 in December) & my relationship was from when I was 20 until 28.

What are your stims/what do you do as stimming?

I think mine is playing with my hair (keep it short so I don't pull any out) - not really sure on how to identify what else could be one.

I get that but good that you know where you stand with them + where they stand with you. I hear you on the energy consumption - ASD/AS does already command a lot of energy with masking/camouflaging.
