    Executive functioning

Not that long ago, I found out what executive functioning means. Once I understood what it was and how autistic people have a problem with it, I felt relieved more than anything. As long as I can remember, I have found activities that involve seemingly complex components like driving a car...

    Primary sources

I submitted an assignment recently about primary sources re: Charlemagne's coronation (800CE). I was happy with my mark but the assignment made think of how we would analyse primary sources about events that happened more recently. Imagine trying to find the truth about the stabbings at Bondi...

    Autism and ageing

I've been reading Lynne Segal's interesting work on ageing. She hasn't broached the subject of autism but I wonder if my autism serves as a form of protection when it comes to ageing. Earlier in life I got used to being ignored because I was odd and I found it easier, indeed enjoyable, to...

    Autism diagnosis

I got my autism diagnosis from a local psychologist with postgraduate qualifications in the area. What is Your Pet Doing Right Now?

He's at home and I'm at work right now but my profile pic shows what he is probably doing.

    The last thing you bought?

Apart from routine stuff like food and beverages, the last thing was this book about Italian partisans in WWII. I bought it online so it is yet to arrive.

Sometimes you have to make up your own word

There are times when I feel like a jpeg in a k-hole (so a phrase rather than a word).

Can you please tell me fun facts about spiders?

I know I’m not very tolerant of people who want to kill spiders automatically. Mostly, spiders should be left alone so they can catch mosquitoes and so on in their webs. Sometimes there may be a need to get rid of one but only if there is really no alternative.

    David from Sydney, Australia

I’m a nearly sixty year old autistic Australian (‘level one’) currently on annual leave travelling across Western NSW. I’m doing it alone and loving it. One day I might travel again with other people but I don’t know when.
