I know actually the AC has a safety switch the clutch will not engage without Freon but it still might make the fan come on
it did in most of my cars even the Honda
Possibly because anti freeze is it's lube be sure to get some and they sell a sm bottle of special lube also
Another thing that should work: Even though it no longer works try turning on your AC it should trick
your computer in to leaving both fans on non-stop with it running
Has anyone ever did a compression check? Most of the time if the head gasket is gone you would get anti freeze in your oil
so keep checking for the oil level to go up when you over heat.
I ask because you only seem to burn oil when you push her hard. It's easy to check if it no longer rattles
or oil seems to get past it then just disconnect it.
Question how is your PCV valve?
