Hi Poey! I've been sooo busy with gainful employment (yay!) these last compile of years, I've not visited AC at all. I have wondered about you from time to time, however, and hope that you are well. Cheers!

What are you future plans to help the Aspie Communitty?

I believe that the best thing I can do for the community is to come out as an Aspie. I have done that at my workplace. Although it has benefitted me personally, it also demonstrates to others that Aspies do not have three heads, can function in a professional environment, and can even be...

    Interviewing

Here is an article about questions you should ask your interviewer. It seems to me to be good advice, over all. 6 Questions to Ask During Your Interview That Will Make an Employer Want to Hire You | Brazen Life

    Interviewing

Interviews are difficult for most people, I think. This is a difficult time to find work, too (I know; I was looking for nearly two years myself). One thing that Aspies have going for them in an interview is that we know what we can do, and usually are able to say so without hesitation. In my...

    Married but not overly happy.....

People with Aspergers often find predicable routine to be calming. I know that I do. To me, my rituals and routines seem somewhat like meditation, very "centering" and "grounding" (to borrow some new age-y terms). I wonder if your schedules might have the dual benefits of both making her...

Hi, i need some help with friend making

Even a NT can be quite shy. Maybe just saying "Hey" when you pass in the hallway, a small wave of hello across the classroom, very low key. Either she will respond or she won't, although try it for a few times before deciding that she hasn't responded, just in case she is experiencing shyness...

Dealing with a Lot of Information / Experience at Once

Well, coping skills for me means mostly using my "scripts" in social situations. By social situations, I mean any sort of interaction with people such as at work, out and about, etc. Usually the scripts work (and no one guesses that I have trouble actually having conversations) but every once...

Dealing with a Lot of Information / Experience at Once

These are excellent questions. I usually use all my coping skills just trying to get through such situations. Then whenever I am able to find quiet time for myself, I make sure to take it, even if it is only escaping to the bathroom for 5 minutes (better than nothing)! The quiet time, even if...

Hi, i need some help with friend making

R3B3L, here are some fairly common conversation topics that aren't too personal. Hope you don't think that they're dumb or lame. Travel. Where has she traveled? Where would she like to go someday? What did/would she like about those places? Food. Everyone eats, and most people can cook...

Newbie to this Forum, and Newbie to Asperger's

Hi Lee, and welcome. This was a great place for me to get used to the idea of being an Aspie, and I hope that it helps you to think it through as well. It is a safe and supportive place.

I think that I would love to live where you do, wyverary! It sounds splendid. I used to live far out in the country and wish that I still did. I miss it so! Employment opportunities are rather slim though.

    Scents/smells

Love: fresh herbs (basil, rosemary, almost anything), saut?ing onions and garlic, okay, bacon too :D. Also, pine needles, lemons and grapefruit. Hate: artificial scents of any kind, such as air fresheners, scented candles, cologne, cleaners, detergents, etc. they make me nauseous.
