    Accents

The most noticeable characteristic about the way I talk is that I'm monotone. I don't put much inflection in anything I say, even when I'm excited, angry, etc. Also, I accent certain words that most people from my region don't. Generally, when I use an accent on a word, it's a southern drawl...

How do you deal with death?

I guess that's why I asked the question originally. My grandpa died a few months ago, and of course I was sad and I'm going to miss him, but I felt like I had to exaggerate my emotions, putting on a show for everyone, so that they wouldn't think I was being cold or uncaring. I did genuinely...

    Film about Aspergers.

I don't know how you view aspergers, but I personally see it more as a difference than a disability (though I certainly understand how it negatively effects the lives of not only those who have AS, but also those who interact with aspies). I believe the main reason that it is debilitating is...

    Privacy

I can't answer if this is an aspie thing or not, but I am the same way. And I think you got it exactly right--I feel like I will be judged more by people who know me, and even if a stranger does judge me, chances are I'll never see them again.

Difficulty articulating yourself when you're mad at someone?

This describes me exactly. I know people, particularly my husband, get frustrated at me when we're in an argument because I generally don't say anything. When I do say something, though, his response usually is, "You're being childish." Damned if I do, damned if I don't.

How do you deal with death?

Just wondering how others with AS deal with a death, paricularly that of someone close or at least familiar to you. Do you tend to get as emotional as NTs or do they seem to be overly emotional in comparison? Do you feel worse than what you're portraying, do you look more upset than what you...

    What are your quirks?

I'm curious what kind of quirks, or silly habits, eveyone deals with. For example, when I'm driving, if I'm making a turn from a stop sign and there are cars coming, I will take a very long time to pull away. I think this is due to poor depth perception. I often make other drivers behind me...

    I'm new here

Hi! My name is Alyssa. I'm 26 years old. I haven't been officially diagnosed yet. I'm going to be seeing a psychologist in November. I'm very anxious and slightly nervous. The question whether I have AS or not has been plaguing my mind for months now. When I first heard of Aspergers (my...
