Titanic

I wouldn't say I'm an expert or obsessed but I know a fair bit on this subject and have watched what ever I can find on the subject.

I used to LOVE studying the Titanic as a child. I read whatever I could find, or watched whatever I could on the subject.

I'm not going to lie, that elderly couple Isidor and Ida Straus made me teary when I found out about them.

I've been completely obsessed by it since I was about 5 years old, after I saw the 1997 James Cameron movie for the first time.

I have been obsessed with Titanic since I was 9 (more the wreck and sinking), I was teased often at school because of my obsession but I was quite well known for it . I went to see the James Cameron film just to see how accurate it was.

It was fairly accurate for what was known in 1997, but James Cameron seemed more than willing to show what we now know was wrong with the film in is recent documentary Titanic at 100, which is a fantastic documentary by the way, I highly recommend it, that is if you haven't already seen it :D And of course the fictional characters, and if you really want to get into the details, you could mention stuff like the fact they widened the Grand Staircase in the film by about 18" because people we're a lot broader in 1997 than in 1912. But I get what you mean about the whole teasing thing, but as soon as there was question about the Titanic in a quiz or something, everyone flocked around me :D

There's a site called Encylopedia Titanica that I haven't visited for awhile but looked in there tonight, I found a discussion on James Cameron's attempt to try and enter the a' la carte restaurant within the stern half of the wreck. They went via the Cafe Parisian and found that completely gone and their attempt to enter the restaurant by the windows was thwarted by the fact that the roof had collapsed. Given the state of the stern I think any attempt to enter that part of the ship is asking for trouble or more likely a lost ROV.
