Thinking IS ego?

Sure, plenty of people say I think too much but this idea is new, to me. What's anybody say to somebody who claims thinking is ego?

Now...I am paraphrasing...but Freud said there were three basic components of the mind.

The Id...the subconscious drives of all humans...innate from birth. Has needs and wants to satisfy.

The Ego...Developed later on...about 5 yrs. old...where the person develops strategies to satisfy or to deny the satisfaction of the Id...depending on the situation....tries to satisfy the Id through socially acceptable ways.

The Super Ego....Our conscience. Our morals...etc. The overlord of action...prioritizing principles and morals over the purely animal instincts of the ID and the purely practical and rational (short term) Ego.

The Ego is the main component of conscious thinking. It is monitored by the Super Ego...and Driven by the Id. But all contribute to the actual thought result.

A very simplified answer...there are other theories...this may not explain fully the answer...as this is a theory.

Is this your real question...or were you searching for another type of answer?

Well, I wondered what on earth they could mean! In my experience, ego seems to be usually used to mean arrogance. I'm aware that isn't it's only meaning and just wondered what anybody else thought. Thanks for your ideas!
