Random People

How do you guys act and what do you think when you make a random, extremely little, conversation with a random person? I have little stories to exemplify this:

When I was 6 years old, one day my parents took me from school and then, we went to the McDonalds. It was raining a lot, that was a weird day. We were eating our burgers and then, a little girl with her mother stood in front of me, holding some balloons. I think we were the only children in this particular McDonalds this day, and she asked me if I wanted the balloons.
I didn't know how to respond, so I've made a "No" sign with my head. She was gone, and I thought about this for a long time. "If I come back, will I still see the balloons?".

Something like this also happened recently. I was in the metro, and it was very empty, so I could sit down. It was getting full, and a lady, with red hair, holding a lot of things, stood next to me. I looked at her bags, then I kinda looked to her face, then I asked if she wanted to sit down. She responded with a weird intonation, I even thought she was being sarcastic and I was doing something wrong. She sat down, and then, after some time, she said "hey, I really appreciate what you've done". And then, after some time, she was gone.

I usually feel disturbed, violated, and slightly overstimulated, as well as confused sometimes.

I have a recurring story, kind of like a recurring dream.
I am in a social setting. I think I am fitting in well. I will say something and suddenly there is the awkward silence followed by everyone leaving. Hmmm?

Quick little exchanges don't do much to me aside from a case of the jitters. Especially if one of us just helped the other, like lately I keep finding older ladies needing a 2 Liter off the top shelf and the bottles get stuck. I feel so embarrased and nervous when they thank me, even though that's the polite thing to do and I honestly would be miffed if they ignored me. Argh!
