This is a Quokka. They only live on a small island off the coast of Western Australia - Rotnest Island. They're a small relative of kangaroos and they evolved with no natural predators and never knew that they're supposed to be afraid of humans or other animals.

It's just an old saying, or sometimes used when one of your friends is being an idiot.

No, not at all. We introduced a lot of restrictions and a nation wide registry and licensing system and banned several types of guns. Guns weren't banned outright but very few Aussies own one. They're also not something readily available, when you buy a gun the gun is withheld for 30 days while police check that you are licensed for that type of firearm and if you have the regulatory gun safe required and they do a nationwide criminal check on you as well.

You also have to have a reason for having a firearm in order to get a license, member of a sorting club, farming property owner, etc. Self Defence is not an allowable reason to own a gun here and suggesting it would likely trigger a deeper criminal check.

That said though, those laws were introduced nearly 30 years ago and have been slightly watered down here and there by all the different states over the years. After Bondi Beach the other week that's all being reviewed and tightened up again now.

Oh, that fits more with my prior understansing, but idk how much land you guys have and clearly you hunt.


The US is an ex-territory country (amongst other things) with an overtly corrupt government, an assumption of governmental corruption in our Constitution, a bunch of vast farmland and a huge non-conscription military, so our country is possibly unusual.

And we don't have koalas. (Tangent, but also we need some koalas or at least Pandas.)
