Do you have any out of print books in your collection?

I have mostly out of print manga in my collection though. I might have a few regular books mixed in with my great aunt's collection, but other then that it's manga or graphic novels.

Some of them are Tokyopop, VIZ, ADV Manga, Dark Horse, and other publishing companies (English and Japanese.).

Also are any of your out of print books worth a lot of money? Some of mine are. Just the other day, I find out my Manhwa was worth $100+USD. :O

Anyways, do you <3 Out of Print books? If so, what do you like about them? Also how do you shop for your Out of Print books?

I usually get them at book fairs, Anime conventions, Library book sales, Craig's List, and one time I got a set on eBay. Sometimes I get Out of Print books for free for Volunteering at book sales.

I have a picture of one of them attached below (I bought the book from Craig's List. So just for the record, I did not drink grape soda over that book. I don't like grape soda. :S). It's one of the first manga published in the 1980s. In flipped form I think. I have to look at it again and let you know.

Oh man. I wrote my reply in the shoutbox. I feel silly.

I have a particular love for unusual book covers. Like the antique ones with cloth backing and weird colors...I'm not sure what it is. But of course, most of the cool-looking books are the ones I am least likely to read. I'm always hunting for rare edition science writing...

I own tons of out-of-print editions of books. In fact, most of my books are out-of-print editions since I tend to read older books and prefer to get first-editions over new ones; there are various reasons for this. One of them is because if you look in the right places, out-of-print editions of books are often cheaper than getting them new yet you can often resell out-of-print editions for many times the price that you paid for them.

As for books that are 100% out-of-print and can't be bought new: I own some of those as well. A few that I can think of at the top of my head are Jack Vance books such as The Blue World, The Jack Vance Treasury (this just came out a few years ago but it had a very short print run; it already sells for a premium) and Araminta Station.

The next out-of-print book that I want to buy is the Jack Vance short stories/novellas/novellettes collection Wild Thyme, Green Magic. I tried getting that book through my library as an inter-library loan, but the only place that had it was a university here in Canada where it would've cost $20 just for me to sign the book out, so I guess I'll have to buy it. The cheapest you can get it is usually $60, but I'll wait until I see it for $30 or less. I love Jack Vance, but I'd hate to have to pay $60 for a relatively short book that just came out a couple years ago; it isn't even much of a collector's item yet.

I have lots of old editions of fairly commonplace books, but not much that's truly out of print. I have a book that I like a lot called The Best Japanese Science Fiction Stories that was first published back in the 80s. I'm pretty sure that it's out of print, but lots of used copies of it are available through Amazon Marketplace.

Some of the stories in this collection were republished in a book entitled Speculative Japan that was published by Kurodahan Press a few years ago, but, unfortunately, there are some stories I really like that didn't make it into that book.

I recently bought a used copy of the story collection Razored Saddles (a collection of hybrid Western/Horror stories) co-edited by Joe R. Lansdale, and I think it's out of print too (but not extremely hard to find).
