All animals can teach us a lot of things if we take the time to pay attention.
Even though I am a cat person, as if no one could tell, I feel very connected with all of our animal friends. Especially birds and cats.
I've learned a lot by observation and connectedness with all creatures.
Humans are more difficult. 🫤
And being a childless cat woman, (popular phrase today), is just alright by me.

Watching Supervet, it always struck me how after a dog loses a leg in a surgery, they seemed to instantly adapt. They would be playing in the grounds of the vets without a care in the world, they just wanted to have fun.

Both of my rescue dogs had difficult beginnings and even though they were surely affected by their tough experiences, they never seemed to hold on to hurt from the past like we humans are prone to do. Dogs are so focused on the present moment and do not lose themselves in worries about the future or fears from the past.

Once my dogs experienced safety and security, they were so ready to just live in the moment and enjoy the simplest things together. My dog Leela (who has died) and my dog Rocky (who I have now) have taught me SO much about healthy long term relationships and not holding grudges or resentment. They have been wonderful teachers and companions to me.

My husband and I have four rescued-cats. Next door, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law have twenty-five or so rescued cats and five dogs. Two of their cats spend their time over here at our house. I assume that they stay over here all the time because over twenty cats cannot always be peaceful for them.

Oh, and I have one child, a son. He and his wife have five rescued cats. We are all definitely rescue animals people just like you are, SusanLR.
