I've lately been trying to get my French back up to snuff. Problem is, I have no one to speak it with and Duolingo can only take you so far (and has many problems of its own to boot). I read Le Journal de Montréal regularly, but while such things are great for vocabulary and grammar, they are utterly useless for conversation...which is where my real interest lies. I rather liked Babbel, and will probably wind up getting a subscription, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any free alternative resources I can use in the meantime (i.e. until payday). I'd say I'm about at an "advanced-intermediate" level, which makes translation exercises somewhat counterproductive (one of Duolingo's MAJOR problems).
