Aside from the aspie forums I've visited, this seems like perfectly normal behaviour on a lot of forums.

Don't ask me why people act like this... I guess most people don't take life nor forums to serious. And that one time someone actually visits and tries to be decent and all, you'll end up as the laughing stock... that in fact is what social behavior online is pretty much.

Looking at your post you made there to introduce yourself... myea, I don't know... I don't end up blurting out my ADHD or autism or whatever there is for no reason. The more people know about you on some forums, the more they'll make fun of it. Maybe you weren't totally aware of how you came across, but over time I've kinda learned to recognize that some introductions are a surefire way to made fun of.

Aside from the entire republican thing you mentioned (which I don't care about too much since I'm not from the US), I wouldn't know why I'd bring it up. Never ever, have I introduced myself and said "I voted a socialist party last time" for example. It doesn't really add a lot I guess. Saying you like controversy is another way for people to see how much controversy you like, hence... people end up with "cruel" behaviour.

Just my 2 cents.

So, this has happened a LONG while ago, I'm over it by now. But it's still BEYOND me why and how people can be SO cruel...

I think they thought they were being funny. Some people have fallen into this cynical mindset where they think they're really sophisticated or something for having a nasty attitude.
I wouldn't give away so much about myself. Wouldn't put up an actual picture or give an actual name.
