How to turn on alerts for watched threads

I accidentally changed the status of some of my watched threads, so I no longer get alerts in the top right-hand corner when someone posts in them. How do I turn the alerts back on? Thanks for your help!
 
At the top of every thread page, there is a link to the far right that says "watch thread" or "unwatch thread." Clicking that link toggles the status on and off.
