Set your volume to a comfortable level and listen to the following frequencies to see which frequency you can hear up to:

8 kHz Frequency (Everyone can hear)

I can't hear past 16 kHz.

If you can hear 19 kHz, you can listen to higher frequencies here (the page where I downloaded the frequency files from).

Note that this test might not give you accurate results if your headphones or speakers don't have a good frequency response (i.e. if your phones or speakers are sub-$30, this test might not give you accurate results).

Ah, nice. I actually can hear 16 kHz. I put my hood down and tried this test out with speakers rather than headphones and could hear it.

Huge relief.

I am almost 41 and can hear up to 15 kHz.

A number of years ago I attempted to join the U.S. Army for Armor class (Abrams tanks); I failed the vision test (I am colorblind it turns out) and I also failed the hearing test (I suspect this was due to years of wearing a Walkman tape-player every time I left the house played at high volumes). I was ineligible for Armor class due to these failed tests.

I end up not joining the Army.

Weird that you failed the test back then when you can still hear 15 kHz at age 41.

What was the hearing test like?

The military hearing test lasted about 1/2 hour and probably was more stringent as to results.

In any case, I was found to be ineligible to be in a tank crew; Understandable, really. With all the noise, radio, and a possible war setting someone like myself may have proven a weak link in the team.

It was probably good I did not enlist. I am not exactly a team player nor am I very physically inclined so the idea of "bootcamp" training really frightened me.

is it the same test as the King_Oni mentioned?
anyway I did it a little bit differently this time and got some interesting results, initially I could hear anything above 17 (can't hear 17)
but then when I listened again I realized I can hear all of them just not as loudly ... can you actually..sort of train yourself to hear better somehow if there's no permanent damage?

I struggle to hear 16 & 17. I think I can very faintly hear them. Perhaps I could hear them better with proper speakers and not headphones though.

If I had better speakers or headphones, I could retakes this "test". My hearing has been keen per se. :S

Oh well I wouldn't know what my true kHz would be unless I had better speakers or headphones. Also being around loud music might have damaged my hearing.
