so dad used to restore antiques.. very good at it.. anyway, we start talking about it. we're both hanging on the couch smoking so i can actually talk a bit and he's relaxed enough to stay on 1 topic. and he gets very indepth about a piece he refinished.. i mean very, ASD type.. and how he worked on it for months and months. but he was getting ready to leave at the same time so i didn't get a chance to ask him if he was ever tested as a kid (from what i know of his childhood.. it's possible they did) but i dont know since he left before i could ask.

but atleast i know next time there will be an opening to bring up the subject (about me)

CC, I am 67 was analyzed at 6. I do not remember all the tests I think one had a cartoon dog, Blackie. I am almost positive that there were few/ no autistics in those days as a dx. There have always been autistic people.

in the future there still should be.. the amount of focus 1 person can put into something needs to exist to create new things. but if you can raise a child knowing they will be autistic, you can raise them properly trying to actually help the child with any problems they may have, and realize that the light in the room alone could be a problem. My childhood was constant yelling with a bipolar father and schizophrenic mother and it only gets worse as i describe it... i don't fully believe this, but i like to believe my parents would have done a lot better if they knew (assuming they didn't and still dont) that the lights and loud sounds were a very big problem, making them to talk to psychs which throughout the years would have helped some of my social problems maybe getting me somewhere useful so i could be beneficial to them (both in bad condition) and maybe even the state (i hate hate hate being on ssdi) because as i look back on my life i also see a lot of potential and remember some of the interests i lost growing up and realize i could have been in a position to help those that i wanted and not be a drain on life.

sorry, been in a bad place

Off topic, fun fact. The question first.
Where was the longest hit baseball hit and where or how far from the plate was the ball recovered? Amazing answer, what's your guess.

You are right, there have always been autistic people and very few diagnosis of autism in those days. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 62, almost 8 years ago. Before that I didn't know why I was different from every body else. What were you diagnosed with all those years ago?

Early diagnosis is good for both child and parents. With proper consoling the child can better learn to deal with his weakness's and take better advantage of his strengths. The parents can learn ways to raise a child that is different than others. Unfortunately that didn't happen for a lot of us. I also feel that my life would very different had I the proper consoling.

I let this one float for a few days, and no bites. This goes back a ways maybe 55 years ago I read that perhaps in the 1930 a baseball was hit out of the Atlanta park during a game. The ball landed in a passing steam trains coal car and was recovered in Chattanooga, TN, or I imagine about 110 miles.
