Favourite/Least Favourite Screen Adaption of a Shakespeare play...

Quite simple; state which TV/Movie adaption of a Shakespearean play you like and/or hate the most. Considering there's over 400 adaptions of William's various plays, it's quite likely you've seen at least one - albeit whether you liked it or not is another matter, as not everyone is a fan of Shakespeare's work.

Here's mine to start us off:

Favourite: 10 Things I Hate About You
Based off the play "The Taming of the Shrew", the film follows Cameron as he starts at a new school and becomes smitten with a popular sophomore girl called Bianca Stratford. In order to get around her father's strict rules on dating (she isn't allowed to date until her elder sister Kat - the ill-tempered and anti-social "shrew" - also starts dating), he attempts to get "bad boy" Patrick (played by the late late Heath Ledger) to date Kat.
Having not read the book, I can only rely on the internet to confirm how much it follows the story while giving way for the obvious updating. Even without that, however, it's still a film I greatly enjoyed - especially for its soundtrack and plenty of funny moments, such as Patrick publicly singing "Can't take my eyes off of you" to Kat.

Least Favourite: Romeo + Juliet (1996)
Like many of you, this was one of the Shakespeare plays I had to study during my last school years. While studying it in school, the teacher brought in this movie adaption for us to watch - which didn't help me whatsoever.
The film is supposed to be a modernization of the story, with the two warring families been rival mafia empires, but the fact they kept the original Shakespearean English text and tried to make it work in the story (such as referring to the guns as "swords") was really off-putting; preventing me from both enjoying the film and understanding what the heck they were talking about most of the time.
(All I can say is thank heavens that when I restudied this, I watched the 1968 version instead - which was actually set in the right time period - and had a version of the book that had a modern English translation in it to study with).

Well the most famous film version of Macbeth was the Roman Polanski version, which I watched 20 years ago as part of my GCSE English course at College.

From what I can remember it was good.

I've only watched one I believe, that was Romeo and Juliet, the one with Leonardo Dicaprio in. Quite liked that.

Yeah, that was the 2006 version which i wasn't a fan of. If they had modernized the language as well as the setting in my opinion, I think I would have enjoyed it more.
Mind you, I had to watch it for educational purposes so that probably tainted my view of it more.
