Fantasy, Stories, Romance, Epics: All wrapped up in the perfect game

When it comes to escaping reality, video games and huge cinematic universes. However, recent works like Steven Universe really open up a new aspect of storytelling that I don't think has err been explored before. Essentially the series has the traditional hero, good vs evil and whatnot but all that exists as a teaser in the background of the story until it snowballs into a major event. I really enjoy that level of layering in characters, plot and overall story.

So in reference to this post, my obsession is really with constructing these fantastic environments down to the way the plants and animals coexist with each other. My problem is finding someone who shares this passion with me. I'm grand, epic and out of the box but many storytellers stick to tropes. Hmmm... Not sure my post was cohesive at all haha.
