Does art make you feel wired?

I worked late tonight on some paintings, and after I went to bed I decided to look through my copy of Proud to be Weird, a huge book of Ralph Steadman's work. I now feel like I've had a lot of caffeine, my mind is thinking of everything, I'm feeling happy, and I just can't settle down to sleep. A little taste of mania induced by an evening of art.

I do this sometimes. I don't start out like this, though. Tonight I was nervous, tired, stressed, worried. After an hour or so of working I'm all, I don't know, hyper. Looking at new books sometimes will do pretty much the same thing. Anyone else have similar reactions?

I'm not sure how I would describe how I feel but I do feel in a way more awake and active while drawing or even after I finished,I admit I am bit of a procrastinator and I have to build up to drawing but when I finally do I get right into it and will focus on it and will draw another not long after I finish the other but it does give me satisfaction when I finish a drawing and it turns out decent.

This happens to me whenever I get sucked into a great book. "It's 2am, who cares?!" Doesn't help if you have school the next day...

no because i avoid the pictures that stress me

I just found out that my cousin is the same way. Known him 45 years and had no idea. Anyhoo, Chuck Close says that inspiration comes from working and I guess maybe that's sorta part of why the wind up. Or maybe it's physics; once in motion.

The pictures that keep me awake are not stressful ones, I would avoid those, too. These are images that I enjoy looking at. It can even be a book of quilts I've never looked at before. That will really perk me up.

you DIDNT understand my meaning if IM stressed by it i wont look at it for instance a free catalogue comes through the door it could stress me
this is me

Not at all. If anything art can bring a certain sense of serenity to me. :)

The drawing process itself is calming but then when I do finish something and it's decent, I end up getting a little hyper. It's the good kind of excitement mixed with a sense of accomplishment. :)
