Caroline Aherne, famous for playing Mrs Merton and Denise in the Royle Family, which she also wrote with her on screen partner Craig "Dave Best" Cash.

Very sad, I was just watching a good episode of the Royle Family on UK Gold the other night.

Thoughts? This mainly goes out to UK based posters, I'm not sure if the US based folk on here would've heard of her.
 
Very sad news. Caroline, and Craig were mainstays of local radio where I grew up, before they were on TV. At one point Caroline was married to Peter Hook (formerly of Joy Division and New Order) so she would rope him into coming on the radio as well.
