I've been going to an AS 'support' forum for awhile. Even they think I ask too many questions! I was only trying to make sense of things & thought that's what they were there to do. Since I was trying to relate the advice to my life, I tried to rephrase the question, give more detail or otherwise explain why I couldn't follow the suggestion or didn't think it'd work. Somehow, that's been decided to be wrong. I can't do their 'don't care' approach. Please, can anybody help me? Can't blame it on NT v AS differences at an Aspie support site!

They're not worth your time if they're complaining about your activity - which is good for any site...

Well, they thought I was 'redefining the terms of reference' & seem to think rephrasing is, basically, bad. None of the others who go there seems to have this problem with them. Then, it's too much like the problems I have with NTs in real life. Which is what I started asking about! I really wish I could explain those, original, problems better.

What is it that you wanted help and advice on? I'd be happy to listen and help you where I can..

Quite! Trying to keep it as short as possible. Why, in most discussions I have, they 'end' with some sort of 'attack'? Whether it's 'arrogance', 'anxiety', 'just feelings', 'rationalizing' or this last eg, there's a common theme. That is, not answering whatever question, not saying how it came across like it did, not saying what I can do about that or admitting they don't have an answer. Perhaps I'm doing asking, apparently, unanswerable questions? Sorry, can't really give many more details of specific conversations. Trying, as far as possible, to deal with the common feature of my main difficulties! Thanks.

You shouldn't let one forum put you off from making friends with other people. People are gonna be unappreciative whatever you do. As long as you continue to make an effort, you'll find people you'll bond with eventually.

Sure, those are, however the problems that kEEP occuring, in real life, too! Counsellors, support workers, family, 'friends'; it's either MOST people I've ever known or me! Since I can only work on myself, that's what I'm trying to do. I am 35, now & have done quite a lot of socialising.
