  • I have a little bird (outside) that wakes me up on time. It's like having a personal alarm.

Aussie birds make a lot of noise and there's nothing personal about it. Here's a short clip of the sounds we wake up to in mornings, to us these are the sounds of home.

Coding can be addictive...Also, my neighbor got a new German Shepherd.

    That was random.

Does the dog go into the "good" or "bad" category?

I have a G S Dog. They are lovely animals, but they can also be frightening or annoying (my brother-in-law is afraid of them, due to childhood incident).

Unknown so far. I've only seen it from a distance.
Some snakes look like leaves, and that's why you should always watch your step.

A snake's greatest fear is being stepped on by large animals. They're very sensitive to vibrations in the ground and will get out of your way if they can.

Here, we have hog nose snakes. They can get about 2 feet long, and are fat.

Despite the fact that cobras don't live within 1000s of miles, a hog nose snake's first line of defense is to rear up like a cobra. If that doesn't work, it roles over and plays dead.

Wallabies are cute, and were once mistaken for aliens for making crop circles.

They are slowly becoming very well established right the way across southern England and Wales as feral pests. At the moment everyone thinks they're cute and loves seeing them but that will change in the next 50 years or so.

How common are wild wallabies in Suffolk and Norfolk?

I knew it was really prankster wallabies all along. I was not fooled, not even a little bit for a short time.

If there's anything I learned from Australia, it's that you shouldn't introduce different species into a new environment.
It's funny. There has never been a bear that had ever existed in Australia.

That's a good thing. Especially when you see what a hungry bear can do to an unlocked motor vehicle.

Well, let's just say that in their hungry quest for anything that's the slightest bit edible, that they'll attempt to tear anything apart to get to something that smells like food. And that it's amazing what they can do with their claws.
Well, I'm back to full health and just in time for the new year. By the way, ever wonder why capybaras are cool with every animal?
Last day of the year, but at least I'm mobile (with a little effort). Did you know that while ravens are more introverted than crows, they have life long bonds?

I've always been strangely drawn to both species. I don't see them very often, but when I do I feel honored...

Many larger birds do this, if they lose their partner they never take on another one.

In the meantime owl males can have more than one mate.
The chills have passed, but I'm left with a stuffy (sometimes runny) nose. Looks like I can't leave until after New Year's. Onto some more animal videos.
Fever broke, but still have the chills. Been watching animal and airplane videos all day (wolves make for some good families)
Just my luck. Family got sick, and may have passed it on to me. Looks, I'll be sticking around for awhile.
    New interest unlocked: Airplanes.

That one has cycles around on repeat since I was a young child. I used to try to race the airplanes that would be starting to decrease altitude as they headed into the airport that wasn't far from my Grandma's house. The planes always won. I daydreamed about having one of those little one or two seater sport planes and pretended that my rope swing was a plane.
