    Yeah, l think that the possibility of burning down the place you live in would make anybody upset. Do you have another place lined up to live in? You need to take responsibility for your actions, and not put others in danger. otherwise you are a threat to your own safety and those around you.

    Actually, they were more upset that all the alcohol was gone, not the fire. I was in my lab in another location. And I paid them back in full.

    Good thing the store had some more fish oil (I heard they're good for your brain). Maybe I could do an experiment on them.

    Yeah it's a good one because the body can't make it's own Omega 3. Worth taking if you're not often eating 2-3 portions of fish a week.

    You don’t actually need fish oil for omega-3 - the fish get theirs from algae! 🌿 There are vegan omega-3 supplements made directly from algae that provide the same DHA and EPA without harming fish.

    I had some iron dust lying around, so I put it water and began playing with it with a magnet. Doesn't work with iron supplements though.

    Have you tried mixing it with something of greater viscosity, like cooking oil?

    That might be interesting for comparison.

    I put a cut up bendy straw between an empty cup and a cup full of water, and water flowed into the empty cup. Physics, right?

    You don't have to use a straw either, drape a bit of cloth between the two cups. Water will travel up the cloth and in to the other cup until the water level is the same in both cups.

    Not for copper coins, or any that have alluminium in their alloy, some metals react with salt. (alkaline)
    Most commonly used is a mild acid, Coke works well.

    There's a trick for cleaning old silver plated bowls & such: put a sheet of aluminum foil in the sink. Add water, salt, and vinegar. Silver & silver plate comes out mirror bright (wash completely with soap and water & quickly dry or it will soon tarnish again.

    And one of my Mum's tricks for ornamental silverware - not food utensils - was to spray them with hair spray straight after cleaning them. Can't oxidise if it can't get oxygen.

    I thought about my friend's egg experiment and decided to drop an egg in some salt water. The egg ended up floating in the water (Also, I hate rent).

    How to tell if an egg is hard boiled or raw - spin it on the table top. A hard boiled egg will spin like a top, a raw egg will refuse to.

    Also it's a good way to tell if an egg is spoiled or not. Does it float in plain water? If yes chuck it. No need for expiration dates!

    Friend nearly scared me out of my wits when they showed me a clip of balloon being pressed against a lot needles without popping (I need to stop doing experiments with balloons).

    Could be worse. Reminded me of living in a college dorm with a criminal justice major across the hallway, filling up a balloon full of red dye to be used in an exercise to reflect evidence gathering and analysis based on the spray of blood from being penetrated by a bb-gun.

    So, I tried making a pinwheel (it wasn't great I needed the assistance of another and Google to get it done), and when I put it over a candle in the bathroom (don't ask), it started turning.

    So, I saw a photo from one of my relatives of a bouquet of white roses, but after their kid put it into their blue paint water, the roses turned blue. Remarkable.

    This works with celery stalks as well. Put blue food coloring in water and the plants sucks it up (technically it's capillary action) into the leaves, giving the leaves a blue color.

    Florists do this with some white flowered plants (daisies) to produce novel colors for fancy arrangements.

    Did you know that balloons don't pop over fire when it's filled with water? I think it's because the water absorbs the heat.

    Before humans learned how to work metals stews and soups were cooked in leather vessels. As long as you cooked over hot coals and didn't expose it to fierce flames it was fine.

    Well, I had some copper wire lying around, and decided to put a little magnet through it. Imagine my surprise when it went around in circles.

    Must be impurities in the copper. There's a few magnetic metals but copper is not one of them.

    It's the Eddy Current Phenomenon. Magnets aren't attracted to copper as it doesn't have ferrous particles, but copper does influence the magnetic field. If you drop a magnet through a copper pipe it will actually slow down as it passes through too :-)
