  • I was abused as a child, ostracized by my peers, and publicly humiliated by strangers as an adult -- all for being "Weird". But I am NOT a victim. I am a survivor!
Rhetorical Rant: Can something be done to discourage perpetual victims from polluting society with their endless whining about how miserable they are? No, I do not mean the real victims of rape, disease, injustice, maiming, or birth defects. I mean the people who constantly whine about how nobody loves them, everybody hates them, and how miserable they are -- just to gain attention and sympathy.

This makes me think of a lesson I've been thinking about a lot recently: "You usually cant change the behavior of others, but what you can change is how you react to them". I dunno, just made me think of that.

@tree: Suggest? Other than what I (and others) have already suggested to the "victims" themselves? Not a clue.

@Misery: It was my interactions with those "victims" that has already changed my attitude. I used to want to help them. Now . . . you read the rant.
Today is December 8. Since the start of this month, a dog, two cats, and a human friend have all passed away. The animals were beloved pets. The human was an older man who worked as a parking attendant and always had a smile for me. Now, whenever I try to sing a Christmas carol, I choke up and tears start to form as I remember all the people and pets I have known since childhood and who have all passed away.
