    The worst sadistic cruelty that a parent can do to his Asperger son -- is to keep him in the dark about his disability, and induce him to pretend that he is normal.
    This is True in my case, which I realized very late in my life.
    My parents never even bothered to build a rapport with me. So, the above became True in my case.

    Autism awareness is very low in my country also. But I don't think that is the cause for my parents' lack of attention towards me. I can come to terms with the fact that they don't know about Autism, and so could not support Or empathize with the Autistic side of me. But they can at least make a genuine attempt to know and understand me. If they did, they would have known that I am different. It was missing always.

    I am trying to be understanding towards my parents, my dad also has it but he has different strategies to hide it. Bc of this i always had to hide it. I know what you mean though, sometimes it feels like asking too much from people who dont have much to give

    It’s hard for them. They have no idea what’s involved and little concept in how to deal with those who have it.
    Plus it’s seen as a failure by society.
