It's just hopeless these days, so much scamming and hacking and crap. Phone numbers and email accounts and everything is so vulnerable. I read that 70% of all new sites on the internet is actually some form of scam site. 70%! Can that be true? If that's true I think we should shut down the entire internet because 70% is ridiculous.

I wouldn’t be surprised at that number.
I generally consider myself rather tech savvy and aware of scams, but I fell for a dropshipping scam a few months ago too.

And with A.I it will now just get worse. It's a shame, I have elderly relatives that doesn't have a chance because they don't know how the internet is or how much phone scamming there is now. It's worrying. Sorry to hear some bastards spoofed your phone number, that's annoying.

There’s so much collaboration, creativity, and use of current technologies that goes into scamming these days. It bewilders me that all of his energy couldn’t be put into things that don’t steal from others. So much effort just to be a thief.

Yeah, it sucks. My mom had her email account hacked last year and I spent several days making sure all compromised accounts were safe again. And my ex-MIL just had scammers con her out of several hundreds of euros.
I was targeted by a scam phone call a few months ago and the guy was selling it so well even I needed some time to think to convince myself I was being scammed.

Sorry about that. I never really understood why some people have a compulsion to call back to any missed call right away, especially / even if they don't recognize a given phone number. My personal rule of calls is if it's something important and someone was intending to call you, they'd call back or contact you another way.
