I find I mainly stick to watching comedy only these days. Other things just tend to overwhelm the empathy in my brain - even if it's fiction.

A lot of things overwhelm the empathy in my brain. Made much worse by menopause and hormone therapy.

Probably depends on the person. Like, I'd watched a bunch of stuff related to the Murdoch case recently. On one hand, it was tragic what happened. But on the other hand, it was satisfying to see justice served, and fascinating to see how the process played out.

I will say though I cant watch animal rescue videos. I remember seeing one video of a dog rescue, the poor thing having suffered from terrible abuse. I was a total wreck for days after that. That was ages ago, I'm tearing up just typing this, geez.

I think it's totally fine to watch it out of satisfaction for seeing justice served, or to understand the legal process. But I find it very hard to understand people watching it on an entertainment level. Especially when it involves children. Like I said, I avoid true crime mostly but sometimes I click on something out of curiosity, but I never end up finishing the videos because I cry or feel sick.

The animal rescue videos are always popping up on my Youtube page, and even though almost all of them have happy endings they make me cry my eyes out. As someone who rescued a dog (Enzo) from a horrible situation and seeing the dog that he is now, and seeing it happen to other dogs and cats and horses... oh God now I'm tearing up too
