He says it's too big and there is no room. He even thinks that working out on it upstairs will ruin the ceiling below. He is very paranoid.

There are really small models.
They don't have to be huge and cumbersome.

Some take up no more room than an ironing board.

True but those can't handle my weight. I need one that can support 350-400 lbs and those are bigger.
