You do have a couple of dogs. :) Have you trained them to attack those who try to attack you? That's some extra security. And as Outdated mentioned, security cameras. I have four, it's not possible to get close to my house without being recorded. I also have two 500 watt lights with motion detectors that lights up my yard and garden if something moves.

Lol, none of my dogs would let someone get anywhere close to coming in the house... and yeah, they would definitely attack someone if the person tried to attack me. I do have motion sensor lights but I should probably get some security cameras too.
These people are not in my yard or anything, they're just walking around the neighborhood, and it's probably just kids. Extra security would be a smart investment though.

Another thing that works well is a guy you can train to protect you. ;) Guys are good for that purpose and they are not difficult to train. Probably easier than the dogs. I suggest something tall and big that gets angry when someone tries to mess with them. Maybe you can find one that needs a new home that you can adopt. :D:) lol

True Forest Cat but they are very difficult to housetrain. They're easily distracted by powertools and keep leaving oily handprints everywhere.;)

I can see how it would give much of anyone anxiety. Though your instincts not to investigate under such circumstances may be serving you well. Time to reflect and not be so hard on yourself. I know in my own case it's easy to speculate over worse-case-scenarios when they are not likely the case.

In Florida, you have to live in gated community. To many instances of you know what happening. Maybe consider some self-defense classes, and l think you said you have pepper spray?

Fellow Floridian here.

Once lived in an apartment complex where our upstairs neighbors were absolute crap (they would make noise during evening hours and the landlord didn’t do anything about it). I’m staying at my dads for a bit and where I live it gets noisy sometimes but not all of the time (mostly dogs barking and ppl celebrating events if it’s a holiday)

If the dog alarm isn't working out, I'd recommend investing in an attack cat. Scares the snot out of burglars to be pounced on by a ten-pound weight of fur and claws. Only problem is, I don't know how you can tell which cat is right for you. Not all cats will attack, you see, so there's a huge element of luck involved. But if it works out, you'd have one surprised burglar!
