I hate it how people feel strong (to say things) while in group, but pee in their pants when they stay in front of you. one reason why I always avoided groups was to avoid group dynamics, because people act different in groups than alone.

They probably mean that you talk about "not group related interests". When some topic is considered an OK topic for the group, then its like group talk even if it is one of them talking about what they did the last weekend.

On the other hand, even a 5 minutes talk about a topic that is "not politically correct" in a group may be too much for the group to handle.
