I don’t think those things have to be mutually exclusive. I don’t think I’ve met other extroverted autistic people but they do exist. I think saying autistic people can’t be personable or have to have bad social skills is a harmful ableist narrative.

I haven’t taken an AQ test or anything but I think I would probably fall somewhere between autistic and NT. But I don’t know if that’s because of how good I’ve gotten at masking. I had to learn the hard way.

I don't think they were diagnosing me, I think they were stating the common misconception that a lot of NTs have that autistic people all act the same.

I met multiple extroverted autistic people in person and yes, they exist. and they were reaaaally extroverted. they couldn´t stop to talk and no suspension.

Consider it this way: they like you, and this is a more NT way of compliments saying they perceive you as like them.

This is scientifically incorrect on their part but shows an insight into NT value systems. They see labels as divisive and frequently negative

Whereas we see labels as a handy way to make sense of the incomprehensible variety of living existence. I'm happy you met 3 new possible friends

Best way to explain it is that one's personality is completely separate from their neurology. I like taking those opportunities to correct stereotypes and knee-jerk reactions :)
