That sounds scary. Maybe it was scary for both of you...

It was… I don’t totally blame the dog because he was terrified. He was a rescue from Puerto Rico and they had just gotten him, so he was out of his element and traumatized. Fortunately he was like a 40 pound dog and not a big one.

Poor guy. How did you manage to get the muzzle on? Like, where/how do you hold on so that you don't get bitten more?

It's always the little dogs on kill zone that petrified me the most. They aren't afraid of anything five times their size. Oh boy. Life of a dog trainer. Tough job.

Wow! I am glad that you are ok. Yesterday I was just reading about that in Temple Grandin book "Animals in translation". Fear is dangerous.

@tree He surprisingly didn’t fight me *too* much about the muzzle, but I did kind of have to wrestle him. I’m decent at dodging bites but he did get me while I was trimming his dewclaws. Not very deep bites, but will probably scar :/

I hold them around the chest and front legs and slide the muzzle on.

I thought about being a dog groomer for second job, but the thought of bites frighten me off.

@crewlucaa_ Some Vitamin E oil could help with healing with less scarring. Topical.

I get bitten more grooming them than training them, usually. I have only been hospitalized from a dog attack *once* and it was when I was working as a behaviorist at an animal shelter.
