I think with meeting new people, you've got to ease into it. Be nonchalant. Don't try and talk your head off.

Of course, I've disregarded all this, and talked non-stop...but I would never stare or try to measure body parts. That's just weird, absurd.

Hey Luca, I think a bit of nonchalance as suggested above is spot on. Maybe you're thinking it's your job to make friends with others, when it's equally their job to make friends with you. :)
