  • No, I was always from NYC. I used to go down to an aunt in Cumberland county (45 miles west of Richmond) every five years, basically. We pretty much would only drive around that area when I was down there. One time I looked at the state map and saw all these cities down by the coast, and wondered what they were like. So I figured it would be nice to go to college in the area, because it's not too far from home, and was cheaper than a school I was looking at in Atlanta, where I had a cousin.

Once I got there, I just got homesick, I found it depressing (they were tearing everything down, and only recently building it back up), plus, NSU was filled with all these rough NYC'ers I thought I was getting away from! Now I was stuck in the dorm with them! I guess I should have gone further south after all). It was rough, and being depressed, I flunked out in two years, and came back home and just started working, and it was a slow climb to where I am now.
Thanks for your message I also went to NSU for graduate school between 1991 and 1993. Very cool. I had heard about the Amtrak service which will terminate in Harbor Park by the baseball field. That will be really convenient because previously you had to drive over to Newport News if you wanted to catch the train. Are you originally from Norfolk or did you just go to school here? I have lived here my whole life and am very fond of the area.

    Thanks again.
