Cool! Sounds like you're getting some "gray line propagation" which is where the differential between a "dark" area where the sun is setting and a "light" area where it is still up can carry signals a long way. Hope you can still hear them and catch an ID, stations have to ID at the beginning of the hour.

I have a 1937 Emerson with an Ingraham cabinet that I hope to restore eventually, I already have the capacitors. It is missing the loop antenna so I am thinking of wiring it to a modern Tecsun loop antenna (sold as a Grundig in the US) and seeing what happens.

Thought it was propagation but I got lucky--The station call sign at 7 was WRMI Radio Miami but it was being simulcast. I am not sure what it was. Low fidelity but fun to listen to. WRMI is a lot clearer on its other frequencies but with an analog tuner it is hard to pin down the exact station until the announcer says what frequency you're at and what's the call sign.

Those Emersons in the Ingraham cabinets are really special--I have an Ingraham cabinet Air Chief by Firestone, six tube table set. It's really small but it exploded & no longer runs. Going to a radio class on Saturday to fix it.
