All I have to do is install the bathroom fixtures (shower and sink), put up the masonite for inside walls (MUCH easier to work with than gypsum drywall, and much lighter too!), then pop out the right side window for the air conditioner and to run wires for the solar panels, wind turbine, and my radio stuff.

I was reading earlier today about rich millenials paying upwards of $75,000 for a tiny home with the same footprint as mine! Absolute lunacy! I spent maybe $10,000, including the cost of the trailer.

Almost. My land is just a couple miles as the crow flies inside the California border, about a dozen miles east of Hornbrook, California, which is the last California town on I-5 northbound before you cross the state line. Hornbrook also has the only gas station between Yreka, California, and Ashland, Oregon, about a 50 mile distance.

The gas station has a lot of bare ground around it due to truckers and civilian travelers getting stuck during snowstorms when Siskiyou Summit is suddenly closed by OSP. That saved it during the Klamathon Fire in 2018-the fire leapt over the station but didn't burn anything except the sign. Most locals in Siskiyou County do their big shopping in Medford which is how I know about my avatar.

The State of Jefferson today is mainly a California issue-people in southern Oregon don't seem interested in it much now, preferring to attach to Idaho or form a different, unnamed state. Jefferson has always been centered in Siskiyou, Modoc, and Trinity counties anyway.

Toilet: Compost. Not hard, a bedside commode intended for the elderly with a big bucket under it, with horse bedding to neutralize the nitrogen and methane in the poo. Then bag it up at the end of the day.

Water will be from rain barrels, as well as nearby creeks. I will probably be using the water dispenser at Raley's in Yreka for a while to give my gut time to adjust.

Propane tank only for the hot water heater. Everything else will be electric, run off solar and wind.
