Yes, the tooth is still firmly rooted even though the top of the root and the tooth itself are too rotted to save. That means that I will have to be under general anesthesia as the "medical dentist" (as they're called in the US) saws through the jawbone in order to extract the tooth.

After I wake from the anesthesia I will be in quite a bit of pain from a chunk of the jawbone being sawed away. I will be gobbling acetominophen and ibuprofen for days, and be on a liquid diet.
