So...Should I be positive BECAUSE there's nothing to be afraid of? Or are you spouting the usual "look on the bright side and accept certain death" nonsense I've heard from everyone else on this site?

Because there's nothing to be afraid of. To be afraid is to accept defeat without even fighting a battle. Ergo, positivity isn't a weakness, positivity is laughing in your enemies' faces in defiance while you refuse to be afraid of them. To be otherwise is to be the miserable person they wanted you to be. So in that way, positivity and happiness are pure, concentrated spite and revenge.
