    Share good puns and jokes.

I was talking to my partner today about how she was feeling depressed, and how it had been like a roller coaster. "I am depressed, I'm not depressed, I am depressed, I'm not depressed..." I likened her speech pattern more to the Little Engine That Could; in other words: A Lack-O-Motive...

Maybe this new drug will cure autism?

Can I ask, why and how do you consider it a gift? I've only ever looked at it as an impediment and something to be ashamed of (until recently) PS People aren't born with autism, they are born autistic, and realizing that made a huge difference in how I see this gift.

Does anybody know anything about this form of autism (High Emotional Intelligence)?

I wish I had someone tell me that much earlier in my childhood (and I believed them). My IQ score has always tormented me (ranging from 98 - 120 from unprofessional sources). Not that long ago, I was able to realize that all it was was a number, and not a reflection of me. I felt (and still do...

Does anybody know anything about this form of autism (High Emotional Intelligence)?

Fair enough; this is still very new to me, because up until very recently I never considered EI to be a real thing, only a term to make people feel better about their lack of IQ (that was how I viewed it in the past, and that involved a lot of my own self-hatred). Regardless, what would it mean...

Does anybody know anything about this form of autism (High Emotional Intelligence)?

So I'm really sorry if I'm not understanding you correctly, but I'm going to do my best in my response: 1. It's mostly fixed to "I" statements because (amongst a plethora of other reasons and issues) I need to know if other people here can relate to my experiences and (potential) abilities. I...

Does anybody know anything about this form of autism (High Emotional Intelligence)?

Sorry for the double post In terms of Cognitive empathy, I have never had a problem with putting myself in other people's shoes, understanding their viewpoints, as well as how and why they feel the way they feel. To be perfectly frank, I like to see the goodness in people, so I think that...

Does anybody know anything about this form of autism (High Emotional Intelligence)?

With the help of my loved ones and my therapist - as well as through my own endeavours. So just a checklist: I am able to separate my own emotions from myself, I can perceive, understand, manage and handle my emotions (to a certain degree, mind you [long story short: I denied myself, recently...

Does anybody know anything about this form of autism (High Emotional Intelligence)?

Hello, I was wondering if anybody could relate to this, and could possibly give me some advice: So I've come to the conclusion that I am a highly emotionally intelligent individual. I feel emotions much more powerfully than most other people, I can relate quite easily to most other human...

    Career Suggestions

I have a question, what jobs and/or careers have you (my fellow aspies) done that you found tolerable? For me, I need a very delicate balance between mindlessness and engagement. I found that being a school photographer gratified both of these conditions, but I think I'd like to move on...

    Current book(s) you're reading?

I have a list of books to get to, but right now I'm reading Kings of the Wyld. It takes place in a fantasy world with monsters and magic, but the story is about the most famous band of mercenaries in the world coming back together after 20 years for one last gig, all while dealing with the...

New and Looking to Connect with other Aspies as a Form of Therapy

Hello, you can call me Xickin, and I have high-functioning autism with aspergers (along with clinical anxiety and depression, as well as OCD). This is very uncomfortable and awkward for me because I've only just begun to come to terms with being autistic, despite being diagnosed at the age of 8...
