Looking for suggestions about a toxic person in my life.

It sounds horrible. I’m sorry you’re in this situation. I agree with masked man there is nothing you can do that will improve the situation for you. I second the suggestion to get and wear noise canceling headphones. Further, can you get out of the apartment for some period of time each...

    What’s Going on In Life

Hey Dillon. That’s great news. Incidentally I worked patient transfer in the ER before becoming a nurse. It’s great experience.

    Just One Photo From Today

This is an earth star I found today while weeding. This is a fungal fruiting body, similar to puffballs but… Earth stars split into triangular segments, like this one is starting to do. The triangles bend outward, looking like a star. This one is not my photo:

The last thing that made you laugh

I watched an interview with Dave Barry. He was really a jerk.

List just one thing you did today

I had to divest myself of my favorite pocket knife before flying to Switzerland. But I need to have a knife, especially because part of the time I would be camping. So I bought a small but nifty Swiss Army knife that was under the 10 cm requirement for flying with a pocket knife. Security took...

Getting into watchmaking as a beginner with little money to go around

I would contact the watchmaker and just talk to him about the work in general. If it goes well you might ask him how best to get into it. Perhaps he would take you on as an employee. Or not. But it is where I would start. With the less than stellar academic skills you described, going to school...

I interacted by text with two neighbors to take care of a problem. I am so lucky to have good neighbors.

I love this bromeliad so much. I know I’ve posted photos of this before, but the vibrancy of the purple and red in the sunlight today really captured me.

An important lesson for the intrepid explorer.

I’ve had this happen when canoeing in Florida. The screen goes black and I have to put it somewhere coolish, because no place is cool, until it comes back. I’ve never had trouble with the battery, but I can see how it could happen.
