How do you want your funeral to proceed?

Nothing too elaborate for me, just thinking something along the lines of the Sutton Hoo ship burial.

    New here - female 48, just self-diagnosed

Once had an inner-city Hispanic student with zero interest in school trying to pass an algebra class so he could play basketball (or something like that, can’t remember the details). All he cared about was sports, girls and being cool. His parents were even less concerned about his grades than...

    Hey there say there...

Well, that was an entertaining intro. I’m new too. Lots of venting and ranting to do. Don’t even have the patience for grammar anymore, so dropping subjects from my sentences. Reminds me of Heinlein’s The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, one of the few works of fiction I could stand to read. You...

Ah, fellow math enthusiast. Tutoring math can be a lot of fun with smart kids who had bad teachers. Often, they just need clear answers to reasonable questions. What a mess, “education” these days.

Yeah, can’t pretend I don’t know what you’re describing. Sounds like you’re pretty unhappy. What’s your goal for your long-term life situation?

    29 Y/O Female, possibly w/Aspergers

I’ve been wondering about the so-called “broader autistic phenotype” (BAP) because the line between AS and NT is so unclear sometimes. Whatever psychologists would say, it does seem like many people find the AS experience relatable on a sub-clinical level. It was always like that for me, but I...

I’ve found my work environment to be soothingly structured and supportive. You can often get by with very clear and goal-oriented conversations that minimize the role of personality and small talk. Most other occupations are not like that. Even in many highly transactional roles (food, retail...

    Hypersexual vs Asexual

I rarely even think about it. Carnal indulgences are just not that rewarding at all for me.

Female : High Functioning Asperger >60 yr

Oh yeah. They’re still doing the trauma-pills routine. Had a fair bit of that. I had to fight the urge to lie about it because it ends up being the permanent focus.

    Sheesh. I'm inclined to agree.

Female : High Functioning Asperger >60 yr

Many 60+ members here with relatively recent diagnoses. I've been angry about the defective mental health system letting this go unnoticed so much even now, but I'm realizing how incredibly lucky I am to be going through this in the 21st. Y'all got ripped off.

Just Got Here (On Many Levels)

@Thinx The question then becomes How do we measure this extra effort? I dunno, but it’s annoying that we’re the ones who have to worry about it. Psychology needs to raise its standards. That aside, it sounds like you’ve had instructive experiences. Thank you for sharing. Whatever brought you...

@Skittlebisquit I suspect you have absolutely no one in your life who cares about these things.

Just Got Here (On Many Levels)

Very intriguing, and thanks for sharing. All I can make out is a good bit of geometry and creativity. Happy to talk about programming if it's any use. Unfortunately, I only do statistical programming with R and Python. I know a fair bit about solutions architecture for data and machine learning...
